Course information

Registrations for this course are closed.

This course is suitable for both adults and children over 15 and ideally (but not limited to) members of families who may wish to learn the basic skills of sailing together.

Course runs for 5 consecutive Saturday morning on-water sessions (9.00am-12.00pm) and 4 Tuesday evening theory classes (6.30pm-8.00pm), excluding Christmas, January and Easter. It is a beginners Learn to Sail Course, teaching the basic skills of sailing and covers the Start Sailing 1 course and some elements of Start Sailing 2.

Course Overview

This course introduces participants to dinghy sailing and its fundamental skills so they learn terminology and equipment and practice launching and returning to shore and capsize recovery. 

Course Prerequisites

Water confident.

Who should do this course?

This course is designed for participants who wish to begin sailing in a dinghy. All the equipment and gear will be provided by your accredited Discover Sailing Centre.

Course Outcome

You will gain your Start Sailing 1 completion certificate.
