This course focuses on teaching younger sailors 8 to 15 years old the basic skills of sailing, progressing to the basics of sailboat racing.

Course runs for 5 consecutive Saturday morning on-water sessions (9.00am-12.00pm) excluding Christmas, January and Easter. It is a beginners Learn to Sail Course, teaching the basic skills of sailing and covers the Start Sailing 1 and Start Sailing 2 courses.

Course Overview

This course introduces participants to dinghy sailing and its fundamental skills so they learn terminology and equipment and practice launching and returning to shore and capsize recovery. 

Course Prerequisites

Water confident.

Who should do this course?

This course is designed for participants who wish to begin sailing in a dinghy. All the equipment and gear will be provided by your accredited Discover Sailing Centre.

Course Outcome

You will gain your Start Sailing 1 completion certificate.
